Teaching School Readiness Through an ABA-based Preschool Programme
Ready4School 2023-1-CZ01-KA220-SCH-000156079
Venue: Skopje, North Macedonia
Dates: 9–12 April 2025
In April 2025, Skopje hosted a two-day teacher training workshop as part of the EU- funded Ready4School Erasmus+ project. The workshop brought together preschool educators and professionals to enhance their skills in supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as they transition from preschool to primary school.
Moving from preschool to primary education can be particularly challenging for children with ASD due to changes in daily routines, unfamiliar environments, and new social and academic expectations. The Ready4School project addresses these challenges by offering educators practical strategies and an evidence-based assessment tool to measure school readiness skills and identify areas where additional support may be needed. The training provided a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice, covering: ● Principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and understanding autism ● Using the Ready4School Assessment Tool and mobile app ● Collecting and analyzing data to guide instruction ● Practicing intervention strategies in classroom scenarios ● Adapting teaching materials to meet diverse learning needs
Participants engaged in interactive exercises and collaborative activities to apply the strategies in practical contexts. The sessions emphasized data-driven decision- making and inclusive approaches to teaching.
Educators reported gaining valuable knowledge and practical skills to implement in their classrooms immediately. Many expressed interest in sharing the resources and app with colleagues, supporting the project’s train-the-trainer model. All attendees received certificates of participation, recognizing their commitment to inclusive education and promoting school readiness for children with ASD.
